The eagerly awaited sale of tickets for the 2016 Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has commenced today, Thursday, June 9, at the new CPL Office at 238 Camp and Quamina Streets, Georgetown.
Patrons wishing to purchase tickets will be allowed 10 tickets per person for each game and where possible they may be allowed to purchase tickets with the seats of their choice in their preferred stand depending on availability. However corporate entities wishing to purchase more than 10 tickets can contact the ticketing office for further details.
The cost per ticket is the same as last year with Gy$4000 or $20US for the Red and Green Stands, Gy$3000 or $15US for Orange Stand and Gy$2000 or $10US for the Grass Mound.
This year organizers have put in place many security features to prevent counterfeiting and unlike some other venues, tickets for the Guyana National Stadium are numbered to match the seat number which will eliminate the possibility of overcrowding.
Patrons are asked to make early purchases so as to avoid the rush as we get close to the match days.
Trinbago Knight Riders are the defending Champions while Jamaica Tallawahs are the inaugural Champions in 2014 and the Barbados Tridents winning the second edition of the annual tournament dubbed “the biggest party in sport.”
The Guyana Amazon Warriors have been very dominant in the three exciting tournaments so far having played in two finals (2014 and 2015) and bowing out in the semi-final last year.
The Guyana Amazon Warriors will play 10 games in the preliminary phase of the League, with four matches in Guyana, two in Florida, and one each in Trinidad and Tobago, St Kitts and Nevis, Jamaica and St Lucia.
The Guyana Amazon Warriors will begin their four exciting and high quality home matches on Thursday July 7 against the 2014 Champions; the Jamaica Tallawahs at 19:00 Hrs, then on Saturday July 9 they will play the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots from noon. The Martin Guptil led side will then turn their attention to the Trinbago Knight Riders on Sunday July 10 from 19:00 Hrs and will wrap up the leg of local matches on Tuesday July 12 against the St. Lucia Zouks at 19:00hrs.
The Guyana Amazon Warriors squad features some familiar faces in captain Martin Guptil of New Zealand, Guyanese Christopher Barnwell, Paul Wintz, Veerasammy Permaul, Assad Fudadin and Steven Jacobs while some fresh faces include Australian duo of Adam Zampa and Chris Lynn, Pakistan’s Sohail Tanvir, Barbadian Dwayne Smith, Trinidadians Rayad Emrit, Jason Mohammed and Steven Katwaroo, Antiguan Orlando Peters, Guyanese Anthony Bramble and Shimron Hetmyer the West Indies winning under-19 captain. Ali Khan is the ICC Americas Player assigned to the team to aid in his development.
Roger Harper is the Head Coach of the team while Esuan Crandon is the Assistant Coach and Omar Khan the Manager.
